Install Error: Can't Connect to MySQL Server

I'm getting an installation error trying to set up BigTree locally using AMPPS to run my dev server.

I've double-checked my database/username fields and I believe I'm entering everything correctly, but I'm still getting a "Could not connect to MySQL Server" error when attempting to install.  I've tried authenticating both as root and as a custom database user I created.

I'm far from a seasoned developer - In phpMyAdmin, is there somewhere I can double-check that I'm entering proper info for hostname, db, user, etc?

It's possible you might be experiencing the same thing as this GitHub issue:
https://github.com/bigtreecms/BigTree-CMS/issues/241

I'd try checking the "Connect via Socket or Alternate Port" checkbox and entering 3306 for the "Port" and seeing if that fixes it.
